Oldies Out-Reach

This evening my wife and I attended a special type of Evangelical Out-Reach at Good News Church. Very unconventional. But we have a BLAST of a time!

The main "speaker+singer" is this dynamic duo from Singapore. The guy on the right was the Grand Champion from the 1985 Singapore National Singing Competition.

They would sing SECULAR OLDIES, from the '30s to the '70s. And in-between the songs, they would talk about life with Jesus.

I must say the biggest revelation is the fact that, u suddenly realise, almost ALL secular "love" songs are singing about HOPELESSNESS, BROKENNESS, LONELINESS, DISAPPOINTMENT.... No wonder some call them the BLUES! Which coincidental is a TRUE reflection of people of the world who are without Jesus!

Unlike most of the seeker-sensitive churches that tend to preach a water downed gospel, these two, despite unconventional, shared a Christo-centric message. That sin has separated man from God. That salvation is found in no place else but thru Jesus who died for us. That true love can only be found in Christ. That true hope can only be found in our heavenly Father.

And the bonus for me is that I have a GREAT time enjoying their INCREDIBLE singing talent. Their voices are simply MESMERISING... Well, it is easy to gauge from the ladies especially...

But the BIGGEST bonus is to see the wife of my invited friend going up to receive Jesus as her Lord & Saviour! Hallelujah!
