Happy Birthday, Alma!

Happy Birthday, Alma!

Its a funny thing... my KL wife dinning out with a Filipinos birthday girl, together with her best friend who is Irish, and another who is Canadian... in an Italian restaurant... in Kuching... Hmmm.... I guess the common denominator here is all 4 are beloved children of God :)

Good Food, Good Company

A few days ago, a friend of mine bought me lunch at a fancy restaurant. Well, at least to me it was fancy lah... I mean, after all, how many restaurant in town got such a view in front of the toilet...

And I must say the food was DELICIOUS! The coffee was excellentae!

My friend ordered this lamb thing... can't remember the name exactly but it was GOOD!

So I have been thinking about the other types of food that I enjoy... for instance, I gotta say THE BEST is the KOM PIA - especially those with meat stuffing inside!

Next would be the delicious ROJAK. Nothing beats good Rojak, man!

And the place I find where u can get the BEST COMBO of the above is at this "not so fancy" place:

Actually, come to think of it, WHO u eat with is as important if not MORE than where. So good company is a must. Right?

So must always strike the RIGHT combination - Right FOOD, Right PLACE, Right COMPANY. Not easy I know. But, trust me, it will be A LOT easier than striking the combo below: Counter 5, Customer #5, Ticket # 150...

TCA Class Group Photo

click at photo to enlarge

"Historical" group photo for TCA College Kuching Extension :)

52 saints who hunger to be better equipped in the knowledge of God. And I understand the students here come from 14 different churches! Praise the Lord!

Feel so honoured to be asked by Bro Nelson to come in to help take some photos.

I was able to "listen free" for more than half an hour! And within that short time, I have already received much. For instance, now I know where the different interpretation of the Bible "started" from! Allegorical from Alexandria, Literal from Antioch! BTW, I am a "literal".

When I first walked in, I notice Sis Irene has the BIGGEST table in the room... I mean all the others either sit in a tiny table-chair, or they share 3 to a table. Hmmm... wonder how much extra u gotta pay for such premium space ;)

Before tea break, Bro Nelson arranged the class for a group photo. U know, there is SOMETHING about a child of God - there is so much JOY inside them. Don't believe? Check out the photo above!

Know whats the secret? Hint: Christ in you, the HOPE of glory. (1Colossians 1:27)

After photo shoot, it was tea & KOM-PIA! The most AWESOME food! I have noticed the church likes to prepare Foochow food & snacks... hmmm... wonder who is responsible...

Tea break was full of lively chatters & laughters & discussion & STUDY???

BTW, talking about study, I wonder who was the TOP student in previous class...

any guess?

TCA College Kuching Extension

On a more "serious" note, by the grace of God, it is incredible to see a vision of the church coming to pass. My beloved pastor has talked about setting up a Bible College, and now, lo and behold, that dream is fulfilled.

EBC now runs an extension of TCA College here in Kuching. And it is such an honour to have the founder of TCA College, Rev. Dr. Naomi Dowdy, here to officiate the launching.

She also visited the center and here is a picture of Rev. Naomi Dowdy leading a prayer over the college with my church pastors & other local leaders.

Praise the Lord!

Servant-hood

Today is an important day for my church, EBC Kuching. You can judge by the BIG plants sitting outside my church!

(FYI. U can click on the picture to see a BIG one.)

Band of brothers.

These are part of the "behind-the-scene (BTS) people" for any successful church function. Allow me to share with u what I mean...

How many of us notice HOW CLEAN is the church floor? We all take it for granted. Yet someone is behind it...

What is better than been greeted with BIG and WARM smile and a SINCERE handshake? Yet how many of us know the "sweat & effort" behind?

How many of us ever thought of how all those books and CDs by our invited guests ever come to be so conveniently displayed for sale in the church? Well, someone is behind carrying ALL those HEAVY stuff!

Or who made all those wonderfully "FREE" food? Who brought them in? Who carried them in?

Or who helped to guard the expensive cars outside the church? (Actually, we believers have angels who are so much stronger than Storm Troopers...)

SO MANY people are involved to make everything smooth & successful!

Some worked under TREMENDOUS PRESSURE...

(Just kidding! Bro Nelson is a wonderful person) :P

Well, I just want to do my part and give thanks and praise God for all those wonderful "BTS people" who just LOVE to SERVE...

There are just SO MANY of them! (And just LOOK at how BIG are their SMILES!)

And I can't even begin to name them ALL... Below are just some more examples...

To all the "BTS people" - I SALUTE U!!!

But just cuz I talk about "BTS people", don't u ever think our leaders are not playing a major role in the success of any functions. Without them, there WON'T be any function!

And don't u think they have no PRESSURE...

Kidding only ;)

Most of all, I praise God for this wonderful day.

Hello Nikon D40!

My Sony H1 has been faithfully serving me for more than 1 1/2 years. But now the time has come for me to upgrade to a DSLR. Why DSLR? Well, 2 important reasons: Quality & Versatility.

And I have decided to opt for Nikon D40 (yes, I am aware of D40x). Main reasons:

1) within budget
2) i got a bunch of Nikon gears from the "film era" - 4 fabulous lenses & 2 flash guns
3) excellent reviews
4) met all my needs
5) church is asking me to shoot a biggie event! and i want the BEST for God!

Dad - 1st Anniversary

Time flies. It has been exactly one year since dad passed on. Last night, we planned to drop by the cemetery this morning for remembrance.

So early morning, after dropping kids off to school, we went to buy flowers.

Before 9am, we were already there.

And once more I really THANK GOD that my dad was saved before he died. Praise God for His grace and mercy. And I also thank God that my WHOLE family is saved.... If NOT, this is likely to happen...

So now, by the grace of God, we have different HOPE...

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.

An Off Day

Took a day off.

Morning brought my wife to eat the BEST laksa in town.

Then it was my FIRST visit to check out Edel's school. Very nice. Full of nice touches.

After which, I went to have lunch with Swee Jin who just got back from Bali. I understand he got a tattoo while in Bali...but I still couldn't help but imagine how it would have looked like IF he had tattooed something we had talked about...

a) the VODKA option...

b) or the GUINNESS option...

Hmmm... somehow I would rather him NOT tattoo since Bible forbids tattooing (Lev 19:28). But it is too late. However nobody knows WHERE/WHAT is this new tattoo...

John Snooooozing

John slept over at his cousin's place last night... obviously he didn't sleep much from the way he looked right after church this morning... And since he has been trying to complete the last level of Super Marios DS... I bet he was dreaming of a solution...

Teddy Bear

Jane has been bringing around this Teddy Bear EVERY WHERE she goes! Even to the Church! Here's taking Teddy for a swing.

Pastor Lim

Gulp! Sighting of Pastor Lim Gee Tiong this evening! He looks FIERCE, right? Well, actually, Pastor Lim is a most friendly person, and he is also one of the most anointed man of God in town. Dad used to love his songs so much.

Eating Out

After checking out the new house we went for dinner somewhere near SS2.

The service was veeery sloooooooooow. I timed a table who arrived later than us. The poor folks waited for almost 30 mins before someone came to take order !!!!

How Jer ordered some simple BUT GOOD food. Very satisfying...

But THE BEST was this dish:

THIS was what made the whole "waiting & poor service" WORTH IT!

Betty New House

Was in KL over weekend for business trip. Was very surprised when wife called me that How Jer is picking me up from KLIA! And some more Evelyn was with them also, been in KL for some week-long church seminar.

This time, I got the chance to check out How Jer/Betty's new house. It is located in a VERY nice and posh neighborhood. I was told most houses here cost in the "more than 1 million" range!!! When I snapped the pix above... somehow something don't seem quite right...

It was ONLY when I came home did I realise what was "wrong"... so I fixed it below...

Much better now, don't u agree? ;)

How Jer did some renovation over the new house. Sayang I couldn't take more pix as I only got my W810i mobile phone with me as my main camera. Below are some shots:

Very NICE main entrance...

This "waterfall" wall is 2 stories tall with an open sun roof. Build right at one corner of the living room. The constant soothing sound of softly running water plus the Koi in the pond make the whole thing VERY VERY awesome - and relaxing of course.

Another side of the living room opens right up to this nicely done patio with mini fountain, more fishes and nice plants.

But... the MOST INCREDIBLE of ALL... gotta be THIS >>>>

urrr... actually this is NOT the real thing as I didn't snap any pix of the jacuzzi How Jer installed at his master bathroom. I mean I gotta give him and my sis SOME privacy, right?
