Sematan
This morning we drove all the way up to Sematan, a small fishing village, 120km away from Kuching. The sea here is simply STUNNING.
Sematan is a very small town but it is SO beautiful. It brings back certain memories about my long ago dream of living in a coastal town by the sea . I dunno how to describe it, but in those days, it felt "romantic" to be living in such a town.
Before long, we arrived at Sematan "Resort" ;) Though this place is no 5 stars, but it is very cute. I rate it 5 seashells.
It has all the basic facilities. It even has a rock climbing wall! But nothing beats the view to the gorgeous sea. One downer though - probably cuz of its remote location and lack of competition, the room rates here are "astronomical" by Kuching standard.
As usual, Jane loves to swim and John loves to look for crabbies.
The sea here is so much more pristine than "the other famous Kuching seaside resorts" whereby the sea is "yellowish" most of the time!
Despite me being underneath an umbrella 99% of the time, my feet were showing signs of sun-burn at the end of the day ;)
The resort is running fully booked despite the "astronomical" rates. So the kids were a bit disappointed but I am sure we will be back soon.
Surprise of the Trip: the metering of Nikon D40 is SO accurate/smart that the old school way of dialing in an extra +2/3 to +1 1/3 stop for any beach scene under an intense sun - is totally unnecessary. Amazing! The above is with +1 stop.
